As the year has come to an end, it is time to look back at the best films of the year. This year has been very poignant in terms of filmmaking. These films were very impactful and bought revival in booming the cinema, worldwide. Some of these films have done more to the audience than just entertain.

1. Dune

“Dune” depicts the narrative of Paul Atreides, a clever and gifted young man born into a huge destiny beyond his comprehension. He must travel to the universe’s most hazardous planet to save his family and people. Only those who can overcome their fear will live as nefarious powers clash over the planet’s unique supply of the most valuable resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential.

2. The Last Duel

France in the fourteenth century. After saving Count Pierre d’Alençon’s life in the Battle of Poitiers, the battle-scarred veteran knight, Sir Jean de Carrouges, has a falling out with his brother-in-arms. Along with erstwhile buddy, squire Jacques Le Gris. Then, to to Jean’s dismay, Marguerite de Thibouville, his lovely wife, accuses Le Gris of rape. To restore her honor, Jean accuses Jacques of the heinous crime against Marguerite before His Majesty, King Charles VI. Therefore, demands a duel—a practice that was prohibited many years ago. Truth, on the other hand, is in the eye of the beholder. As a result, the perception of three different realities and three opposing points of view leads to a brutal death fight.

3. The Power Of The Dog

Cowboy Phil Burbank is ruthlessly seductive, severe, pale-eyed, and attractive. Phil’s romanticism, power, and vulnerability are all bound up in the past and in the land: he can castrate a bull calf with two rapid slashes of his knife; he swims naked in the river, coating his body with mud. It is the year 1925. The Burbank brothers are affluent Montana ranchers. On their way to market, the brothers meet Rose, the widowed proprietor, and her son Peter at the Red Mill restaurant. Phil treats them both mercilessly, reveling in their anguish and making his fellow cowhands laugh – all save his brother George, who consoles Rose before returning to marry her. Phil’s teasing of Rose takes on an unsettling quality as he alternates between wrath and cunning. His ridicule of her son is more overt, aided by Phil’s cowhand disciples’ applause.

4. Cruella

Estella had a dream before she becomes Cruella de Vil. She aspires to be a fashion designer, having been blessed with equal parts talent, invention, and ambition. Life, on the other hand, appears hell-bent on ensuring that her aspirations never come true. Estella, who was orphaned and impoverished when she arrived in London at the age of 12, wanders wild through the city streets with her best friends and partners-in-crime, Horace and Jasper, two amateur thieves. When a chance encounter propels Estella into the world of the young affluent and famous, she begins to doubt the life she’s established for herself in London and wonders if she wasn’t meant for more after all.

5. The Suicide Squad

A new batch of Belle Reve’s meta-humans strikes a deal with Amanda Waller, the chilly head of Task Force X, in exchange for lesser sentences, similar to the anti-hero team in Suicide Squad (2016). This time, she and her ragtag band of super-powered convicts—Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker, King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, and Ratcatcher 2–set out to find the Thinker, the evil scientist in charge of the mysterious Project Starfish, on the perilous South American island nation of Corto Maltese. Humanity is on the point of destruction as the band joins forces with an old leader of the notorious gang.

6. Nightmare Alley

Stan burns down his house and joins a traveling circus as a carny. Stan is perplexing as to how any man can stoop to the level of acting like a geek. Clem reveals that he looks for unstable individuals who are alcoholics or drug addicts, and entices them in with promises of a “temporary” job and opium-laced vodka. He then exploits their dependence until they succumb to craziness and depravity, resulting in the birth of a new geek. Stan also collaborates with the clairvoyant act “Madame Zeena” and her alcoholic husband, Pete. Stan should never utilize these abilities, he and Zeena warn, or else people will be hurt. Meanwhile, Stan develops feelings for fellow performer Molly and proposes a two-person act outside of the carnival.

7. A Quiet Place II

Evelyn Abbott, grieving at the discovery of the supposedly invulnerable creatures’ weakness, finds herself alone, with two young teenagers and a defenseless newborn boy, and nowhere to hide. Now, 474 days after the all-out alien attack in A Quiet Place (2018), the Abbotts muster every ounce of fortitude they can muster to leave their now-burned-to-the-ground farm and begin on a peril-filled adventure to locate civilization. With this in mind, and a desire to push above the limits, the tenacious survivors have no choice but to walk into an eerily calm, inhospitable territory, hoping for a miracle. This time, however, the adversary is everywhere.

8. Wrath Of Man

Patrick is more than meets the eye, which makes him Fortico’s immediate hero and someone you don’t want to mess with.
