We Can Be Heroes Review, We Can Be Heroes is surely an odd movie. It is silly to the core, but it is kind of fun. First of all, it is not a sequel to Sharkboy and Lavagirl but rather just a movie with them in it. So, don’t go in hoping for that. Because I certainly did so and was disappointed a little bit. But as soon as I got over that fact and started watching the movie. I kind of enjoyed it. It is obviously not your conventional superhero movie. It is a movie that is specifically made for kids only. Robert Rodriguez has already made some really great kids’ movies over the years.
His movies like Spy Kids and Alita are some really good examples of that. But the thing is ‘We Can Be Heroes‘ is nothing like that. Now that Netflix has added this movie to their catalog. We thought it would be a really good time to review this movie. So, without further ado, let’s get on with it.

The official synopsis of the movie reads “When alien invaders capture the Earth’s superheroes, their kids must learn to work together to save their parents- and the planet”.
It is a basic superhero movie trope that you have seen so many times. There is nothing new here to look for. A supervillain captures every single superhero. So now the matter is in the hands of kids to save the world from this supervillain. But there is another power sitting beside that will do everything to stop these kids.
Rodriguez kept the plot of the movie as simple as he could and I liked that. There was nothing unnecessary that was not required. If I have to say it in simple words, it was an easy watch. And that is the first thing you want in a kid’s movie.

Sharkboy and Lava Girl
It is always good to see these two on the screen. And I was glad that I was able to see both of them on the screen. Yeah, I actually thought that it was a sequel to their original movie. But that was completely my fault. Sharkboy and Lava Girl actually made the movie somewhat interesting for me too.
Cast
They actually assembled a very good cast and I don’t know-how. Priyanka Chopra, Pedro Pascal, Adriana Barraza, Christian Slater are just a few of them. Actually, the whole adult cast is amazing and they really pulled it off somehow. It looks like Priyanka Chopra has found her footing in Hollywood as she has featured in some really major movies. It would be really nice to see her in the future also. Pedro Pascal is always a delight whenever he is on the screen.

VFX and Sound Effects
I don’t know what happened but the VFX and Sound Effects were really bad. I know it is meant to be a kid’s movie but the VFX were really bad. Sharkboy and Lavagirl’s special effects were understandable, but I was definitely hoping for something better in this movie.

We have mentioned the movie already in the Best kids and family movies to watch on Netflix in August. And it is exactly that only. Netflix has added this movie and it is one of the best kids’ movies you can watch on Netflix right now. It is silly, fun, and dumb in every right sense.
