The Walking Dead Season 10, The final episode of The Walking Dead season 10 premiered on April 4, 2021. We know it is late, but now that the talks of season 11 are stronger than ever, we thought it would be nice to do a The Walking Dead Review. It has been a decade since The Walking Dead has started and AMC has said that “The Walking Dead still has decades of life”. Now, I know they were talking about the whole franchise just not the show. But to think that they are still not ready to wrap up The Walking Dead in the foreseeable future. It might be bad news for the fans and the show itself. As The Walking Dead season 10, was not that good. It was definitely an improvement over previous seasons, but still, it lacked what made The Walking Dead great.
The Walking Dead Season 10

After a decade long of extending story overs story, there is little less to tell in this universe now. Now without any further ado, let’s look at all the positives and negatives of the show and what we can expect from future seasons.
The Walking Dead Season 10 Positives
Finale
But, even after an average season, the finale of The Walking Dead season 10 was something else entirely. It was one of the best episodes of The Walking Dead Netflix ever. The pacing of the finale was so brilliant that I wasn’t even recognizing it. I don’t know what happened to the creators but the difference between the whole season and the finale was so visible. Jeffrey Dean finally got something to do in the show after being aimlessly used for the whole season. And The Walking Dead Season 10 really brought up my hope for the future seasons after a lackluster finale.
Intense Scenes
As all of you know, The Walking Dead Netflix series had toned down their gruesome and gore scenes in previous seasons. But, we saw those returning in The Walking Dead Season 10. I think that The Walking Dead Season 10 featured some of the most gruesome deaths of the series so far. And I absolutely loved every brutal scene of the series. We basically watch The Walking Dead Netflix series for scenes like these only. The injured woman scene in Episode 2 and Brandon scene in Episode 5 were some of the most beautiful brutal scenes I have ever watched.
Angela and Co.
Angela alongside her crew did a fantastic job of reviving The Walking Dead. After seeing critics’ reviews, you can definitely see how much of an improvement The Walking Dead Season 10 was. The praise was especially on the writing and storytelling parts. Angela Kang must have seriously got her team to work overtime just to make season 10 season that much better. And for that, she must get all the praise in the world.
Writing and Storytelling
As I have said earlier, The writing of The Walking Dead season 10 writing was so much improved than the last few seasons. I know that it still is in shambles, but Angela Kang can’t do that much about it anyway. The show hasn’t been able to recover from the dreadful season 8. But it was still a good watch that was entertaining nonetheless. Especially the second half of the season was really good. It was able to keep me interested and intrigued. If they can improve it a little further, The Walking Dead’s future seasons will be something to look forward to again.
Negatives
Pace of the show
No matter how much the show has been improved the pacing of the show was still a problem. Especially the first half of the season was so slow that I was not able to watch a single episode in one go. The same situation was with episodes 20 and 21. The pacing improved tremendously in the second half, but it still wasn’t enough. I am praising the show for its storytelling, but the pacing was still an issue. Certain parts of the show were so slow and dreadful and unnecessarily extended that it was a real challenge to watch the show.
Not Loyal To Comics
I know that not being loyal to the source material is not a bad thing in any way. It allows the makers to implore and explore their own ideas and they can experiment with them. But when your show is in such a mess, I think that you should adopt from the source material only. The Walking Dead season 10 goes in completely opposite direction and adapts so less from the comics. Another worrying thing is that they have killed almost every person that they need to push the plot further. Carl isn’t even dead in the comics, and he’s actually super important. And it is just one example. The Walking Dead season 10 only follows one or two points from the comics and it is not good when you are hanging by a thread.
The Walking Dead: What Does The Future Hold?
Even after a slow season, I am personally excited for the upcoming season. On a condition that they finish the series in 2 more seasons at max. The makers should know when it is the right time to finish a series and it is that time for The Walking Dead Netflix series. They can finish it on a high note now, or they can let it be ruined completely. If they can recreate The Walking Dead Season 10 kind of episode, the future seasons will be must-watch TV for sure.
