The Conjuring 3 Review, The makers of the Conjuring series have expanded the universe so much now, that I think they have forgotten the essence of The Conjuring 3. The Conjuring 3 was released on June 4, 2021, in the US and both fans and critics have mixed feeling about this one. And I can understand where it is coming from. If I have to sum up Conjuring 3 Review in just one word, it would be “Disappointing”. Because it didn’t felt like a horror movie, rather it felt like a Romantic movie with horror themes scattered here and there. I know the main gist of the movie was horror, but I wasn’t scared.

Devil Made Me Do It Plot

The official synopsis of the movie reads ” A chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.”

As always, Ed and Lorraine will go on a mission that they will regret really soon after. And I can’t stress it enough that the stakes look higher than anything we have seen before. It feels like this might be the final part unless Warner Bros. decides to do another. The movie will focus on a real-life murder case involving Arne Jhonson, who was the first person in legal history to focus his defense on demonic possession. He told the Jury that the reason for his manslaughter was because of demonic possession. It is a landmark case and you should go out of your way to read it. It will help you understand the premise of the movie a little bit better.

Performances

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga were really good in the movie. We have seen them as Ed and Lorraine in previous movies as well and they didn’t disappoint here either. The chemistry between them drives the movie and it won’t be wrong to say that they carried the movie. Other cast members also did a good job with what roles they were given.

Direction

No matter what you say, the direction of the Conjuring 3 was top notch. It really made the movie worth watching. The way director shot Conjuring 3 was amazing. He knew what to shot and how to shoot it. Every Conjuring movie has brilliant directing, but this one might just take the cake out of all three.

The Conjuring 3: Is It Worth It?

It is an average movie at best. And that is my main problem with it. The Conjuring 3 has such an amazing plot. Probably the best plot out of all the three core Conjuring movies. The movie is based on a real story. There was an Arne who killed someone. And he claimed that he was possessed by Demon in the court and it was a sensation at the time. The movie showed us some of the original pictures as well. But the main problem was that they only covered the surface of the topic. The thing was that The Conjuring 3 felt so senseless at so many points. They wanted to insert emotions in the movie so bad that they finished all the weight that the real story had.

I am not saying that Conjuring 3 is completely bad. It has some good scenes that might scare you. But, the movie as a whole is not that scary. Instead of focusing on the story they had, they focused on the family thing and I think that worked out badly for the movie. And because of it, instead of giving it a much needed horror vibe, what we got was a family drama esque movie.
