‘Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi’ reveals the cast and Release Date: At last it looks like that we will get Star Wars original series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Star Wars announced so many new projects in December, but Obi-Wan Kenobi was announced way earlier. The main factor behind all these projects must be the success of ‘The Mandalorian’. Mandalorian is not only critically acclaimed but was also loved by the audience also. After almost 8 months of the official announcement, finally, the cast was revealed on March, 29. The cast has all sorts of faces, from old to young, there are some familiar faces and some absolutely new faces.

‘Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Plot

The story will follow the journey of Obi-Wan Kenobi 10 years after the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith’. In the movie where we saw Anakin finally turning to the dark side and becoming ‘Darth Vader’. That was Kenobi’s greatest downfall and the biggest defeat of his life. The corruption of his best friend and apprentice broke him. And in the upcoming show, we will see that version of Kenobi only. Kenobi will be really low and how will he pick himself up will be interesting to see. There will be new adventures and lots and lots of new stuff. Personally, as a Star Wars fanatic I am looking forward to this series.

‘Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Cast

The cast involves Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars, Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Bonnie Piesse as Beru Lars and Hayden Christensen will return as Darth Vader. I am so excited about the return of Hayden Christensen. And having Darth Vader in the show means that we will have more encounters between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin. Maybe that will be the plot of the show. Kenobi will try to talk to Anakin to turn back to the good side. But we all know how will that end. So, we will have to wait for the show to actually arrive.

Other cast includes Rupert Friend, Moses Ingram, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, Kumail Nanjiani, Benny Safdie, and Indira Varma. To be honest, the cast looks absolutely sick. I think, for the first time I have seen so much variety in a Star Wars-related project. All of these actors are good and have at least one strong performance to their name. We have seen Rupert in movies like Hitman and Pride and Prejudice, Moses Ingram has appeared in ‘The Queen’s Gambit’. Sung Kang is a well-known face to all Fast and Furious fanatics. Simone Kessell has been in a number of movies. Kumail Nanjiani is a critically acclaimed actor and has given some very strong performances in Silicon Valley. Benny Safdie has been in movies like Uncut Gems and Good Time. And finally, we have seen Indira Varma in Game of Thrones.

So, the cast is really strong and you can expect some really good performances from this cast. If Star Wars can restrict themselves from giving unnecessary fan-service and let these actors do their job, I will be happy.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Staff

The show is directed by Deborah Chow, who has also directed two episodes of the first season of ‘The Mandalorian’. George Lucas, Hannah Friedman, Hossein Amini, and Joby Harold are writing the series. Hannah Friedman and Deborah Chow are producing the series. Chung-hoon Chung is in-charge of cinematography and I am looking forward to that. Carmen Cuba was handling the casting and I think she has done an amazing job.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Release Date

As of now, the actual release date has not been revealed yet. But there are rumors that the series might release at the end of the year. Preferably, between September to December. Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi is a mini-series and will feature 6-episodes only. Each episode will be about 30-40 minutes long. You can watch the show on Disney+ Hotstar with both VIP or premium subscriptions. You can also watch the show on Hulu and ESPN+. There has been no news about the second season as of yet. But, just like Mandalorian, we might see a season 2 announcement at the end of the series. So, keep your eyes open for any kind of detail.

As I said earlier, I am really excited about the show. But, I will be excited for any kind of Star Wars project, you can call me biased in that area. But ‘Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi will feature that time of Kenobi’s life that I really wanted to know for so long. We saw him getting defeated by the Dark Force as he saw Anakin become a Sith Lord. But what after that? We never saw his journey after that. We might also see Kenobi taking care of Luke and Leia if that is something makers want us to see.

The possibilities are limitless and 6-episodes are too few to cover all of my expectations. But considering everything, the show looks promising and something to look out for. If they can manage the same pacing as The Mandalorian, this will be a delight to watch.
