He is parents are divorce, and his mother Cindy is seeing the town’s sheriff, Rick, who doesn’t take her relationship seriously. He works a part-time job at a junkyard nearby to fund the building of a pickup truck he plans to use to escape his hometown.
However, he cannot carry out his plans because the truck’s drivetrain is broken. The escaping creature gets discover by Tripp one night in the junkyard, where he captures it, but it escapes before he can call the authorities.
