Sweet Tooth Release Date, Preview, Cast, Trailer, and Other Details: So, Robert Downey Jr. has decided to step into the DC universe. After conquering Marvel for almost a decade, Robert Downey Jr. alongside his wife Susan Downey is producing an upcoming DC show on Netflix. I know the news might come as a surprise, but I am excited about it. Netflix just releases the first trailer for their upcoming show “Sweet Tooth” and it looks amazing. It should be clear that Sweet Tooth is based on a DC comic book series. And it is one hell of a series. If you haven’t read it, you can borrow mine, but I want it back.

Sweet Tooth official trailer might have looked really sweet to you. But that was not the case with the comics at all. The comics were actually pretty brutal and will leave you a little bit disturbed. The reason why Sweet Tooth Netflix official trailer looked kind of cute because it is family-friendly, unlike comics. When Netflix announced the show they told us that they will try to make this one family-friendly. So, if you were expecting some really serious psychological drama, don’t do that. Sweet Tooth Netflix will still be pretty good, I am sure of that. It just won’t be as dark as you would have expected it to be.

Sweet Tooth Plot

Netflix describes the show as “Based on the beloved DC Comic, and Executive Produced by Susan Downey & Robert Downey Jr., Sweet Tooth is a post-apocalyptic fairytale about a hybrid deer-boy and a wandering loner who embark on an extraordinary adventure. All episodes of Sweet Tooth premiere on June 4, 2021, only on Netflix.”

Sweet Tooth Netflix will follow the story of a hybrid kid Gus. Gus is a boy with deer-like features and lives in a forest with his father. The story will be set up after a semi-apocalyptic event called “The Great Crumble”. The event almost destroyed the earth and from the debris arises the age of Deer-Human hybrids. Our main character Gus, who will come to be known as Sweet Tooth in the future will be the min focus of the story. After his dad being abducted, he will set on a journey and will make a bond with another loner like him. Their adventure won’t be easy as there will be so many obstacles in front of them. Especially the hunters. The chase will be amazing and if Netflix can pull it off, it will surely be epic for sure.

Sweet Tooth Release Date

The show is all set to release on June 4, 2021. The first season will feature a total of eight episodes with each episode being almost 40-50 minutes long. The show will release exclusively on Netflix without any regional boundaries. So, you can enjoy the show from any place in the world.

There have been rumors about Netflix Sweet Tooth Season 2, but nothing is concrete. Even Netflix hasn’t teased anything about the second season. And considering the comic book series was a really short one, I don’t know if there will be a second season. We have to wait for the first season to drop to clear all the doubts. And we will update you as soon as something is announced. So, keep following Reelsrated.

Toa Fraser, Jim Mickle, and Robyn Grace are directing the show. Jim Mickle has written the show also alongside Beth Schwartz, Christina Ham, and Jeff Lemire. Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey are the executive producers and Netflix is selling the show on their back. Jeff Grace and Russell Pollack are in charge of the music, and you all might know by now, that I always look forward to the music of a series.

Sweet Tooth: What To Expect?

If Netflix can really adapt the comic series nicely, Netflix Sweet Tooth can be one of the best shows of the year. And judging by the trailer, there will be lots and lots of drone shots, so be prepared for that. Sweet Tooth is one of my favorite comic book series and if they do it dirty like Locke and Key, I will be really disappointed. I am getting my hopes really high as Robert Downey Jr. is producing it. Just don’t tone down everything completely, otherwise, the series will be pointless. Here’s to hoping that they will tone it down decently and won’t ruin the series.
