Resident Evil franchise just took a dark turn towards horror and we can’t get enough of it.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness Release Date, Preview, Cast, and Other Details: Netflix just released the trailer for the absolutely new CGI Resident Evil anime and it looked awesome. Not only it looked awesome animation-wise, which you generally can’t say about other CGI anime, but it also promises to go back to its roots. Yes, the new trailer for Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness was dark, gritty, and had horror in it. What else can you ask from a Resident Evil series? It had everything you want in a Resident Evil series. And it also revealed the release date of the project, which is not that far if you ask me.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness Trailer

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness trailer marked the return of Leon and Claire in the franchise. That is an interesting choice because they are only going with these two from the original characters. We might see some more familiar faces in the series, but nothing is confirmed yet. I am excited about the series, I will finally have something interesting to watch after all this time. The animation is seriously just like the games, it can be either bad or a masterpiece. It will surely depend on the story obviously but are here to make assumptions only. The trailer was short, but it was enough to hype up the fans by showing them the horror and action elements of the show.

Plot

According to the official synopsis “Federal agent, Leon S. Kennedy teams up with TerraSave staff member Claire Redfield to investigate a zombie outbreak. Based on the popular video game series of the same name by Capcom.” and “The world of Resident Evil that intertwines horror, action, and suspense is presented with beautiful and realistic visuals in this brand-new entertainment epic on an unprecedented scale!”

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will be set two years after Resident Evil 4 and will be canon. So, if you are confused about the reboot, that is being made separately and this is not that. It is really nice to see something cannon to the games. The studio announced on a live stream that the president in the anime will be Ashley’s father from Resident Evil 4. They also hinted at the return of some more familiar faces without spoiling anything. So Ada Wong, Inrigd Hannigan, Wesker, and Merchant are my bet. Salazar won’t be in the anime, as he died in Resident Evil 4 only. So, please don’t get your hopes up.

The series will focus on Leon and Claire teaming up to investigate a zombie outbreak. So, we have our two favorite things from the Resident Evil franchise already. The series will feature some new mysteries and lots and lots of action scenes. I don’t think we will be bored by it.

Release Date

The anime is all set to release in July 2021. The exact release date is still not revealed yet, but various sources have confirmed that it will be early July only. We don’t have any information regarding the total number of episodes either, but it is a mini-series, so it will have no more than 6 episodes. Every anime has a runtime of 20 minutes per episode, so Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will go in the same way only. The anime will release on Netflix without any regional restrictions, so you can enjoy it from any place in the world.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness Cast

As of now, only two cast members have been revealed. Nick Apostolides will play the role of Leon Kennedy and Stephanie Panisello will play the character of Claire Redfield.

The anime is being produced and directed by Hiroyuki Kobayashi. Eldred Tjie is in charge of special effects in the series.

What to Expect?

Honestly, I am looking forward to the series. If you can ignore the dodgy animation it might be a really good series. And who knows even the animation might turn out to be good. It is a mini-series, so it will be perfect for a binge-watching session. And if you are a fan of the franchise, no matter what I say you will watch it.
