Marvel’s Shang Chi Trailer, Cast, Release Date, and Other Details: Marvel has just released the trailer for their latest upcoming movie Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The movie will introduce us to a brand new hero in the form of Shang Chi. Marvel was supposed to only release the first look poster of the movie, but they treated us with a trailer too. And in my opinion, the Shang Chi official trailer looked absolutely rad. It might solve Marvel’s problem of excessive use of CGI and give us a proper action superhero. Don’t be mistaken, they will still use CGI, but this time to a certain extent. And the last time I saw a pure action Marvel movie was back in 2018 when Black Panther came out.
Marvel’s Shang Chi Trailer
Marvel’s Shang Chi Trailer Cinematic Universe has always heavily relied upon CGI and VFX. That is why movies like Black Panther and Captain America are such a rarity and treat to the eyes. Sang Chi’s official trailer was released as a surprise to celebrate male lead actor Simu Liu’s birthday. Sang Chi will mark the arrival of a new hero in the new Marvel’s Shang Chi Trailer Cinematic Universe. I am always excited about an origin story of a hero. They are exciting and when they are looking this good, what can I expect more? Sang Chi’s official trailer gave a vibe similar to Black Panther, which involved a perfect blend of action and CGI. It is a new color of Marvel that we are not so familiar with, yet we love that color.
Shang Chi Plot
The official synopsis read “Shang-Chi must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.”
The plot is simple and interesting. The story is based on Shang-Chi, who has been away from his home for almost ten years now. Shang-Chi was raised by his father Wenwu, to be the next heir of the “Ten Rings”. Ten Rings is a villainous organization that depends on assassination and crime. And to walk away from this life of assassination and crime, he left his house. But, just like the trailer said, “It’s time for you to take your place, Shang can’t outrun his past forever. His father comes hunting him down to take the throne. And this led to what might be the best action movie you will see after Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
The upcoming movie has also taken some references from some of the recent Shang-Chi comics. Where he can be seen living in San Francisco. We have previously seen Marvel attempting to make a martial-art-centric superhero-based show in form of Iron Fist. Although that was a failed attempt considering the show was a bit flat, Shang-Chi can be a different story altogether. It can be one of the best things Marvel’s Shang Chi Trailer has ever done. It has the potential to do so.
Shang Chi Release Date
The movie was supposed to release on February 12, 2021, the Chinese New Year, but was delayed due to Coronavirus pandemic. And now finally after 2-3 more delays the movie is all set to release on September 3, 2021. The movie is still in production at the moment and will be done by late July. So, if everything goes right, and we hope to god that it does, we will see this new superhero in September. The movie will release in theaters exclusively unlike Black Widow which is releasing on both fronts.
Shang Chi Cast
The movie cast includes Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Awkwafina as Katy, Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, Florian Munteanu as Razor Fist, Tony Chiu-Wai Leung as Wenwu, and Ronny Chieng as Jon Jon. The movie is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. We have seen his work previously in Just Mercy and I am a fan. Dave Callaham is in charge of writing. Kevin Feige, Charles Newirth, and Jonathan Schwartz are producing the movie.
Shang Chi: What To Expect?
Shang-Chi will officially kick off a new era in Marvel Cinematic Universe post-Avengers. Black Widow might be released earlier, but it will still be before Endgame. We have seen shows like WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and new vision of Marvel. It might seem bad at the moment, but this is truly the most interesting Marvel had been in years. Where nothing is certain and they can lead us anywhere they want with any characters they want.
