Jupiter’s Legacy Trailer, Release Date, Plot, and Other Details: Netflix just released the official of their upcoming show. Not so long ago, Hollywood was frowning upon the ideas of Superhero shows and now we are getting one after the another. Netflix has already produced some superhero shows in the past like The Umbrella Academy and The Invincible. But Jupiter’s Legacy feels like Netflix’s answer to Amazon Prime “The Boys”. The trailer looked dark and gritty, and the premise is something that we don’t usually see in superhero shows.
Jupiter’s Legacy Trailer
The upcoming superhero show is based on a comic series by writer Mark Millar and Frank Quietly. Seriously, seeing all these new superhero shows makes my heart melt. “They said the age of heroes will never come”. But it is here and it is stronger than ever now. The VFX in the Jupiter’s Legacy official trailer really got my attention. It looked amazing and on par with some of the best VFX, I have ever seen. If you are not familiar with Mark Millar’s Jupiter’s Legacy, he also wrote Kingsman, Wanted, and Kick-Ass. So, now you know how amazing a writer he actually is.
Jupiter’s Legacy Plot
According to Netflix’s official synopsis “The first generation of superheroes have kept the world safe for nearly a century. Now their children must continue their legendary ideals.”
I think the plot of the show can be summed up in two dialogues shown in the trailer. When Utopian said, “Brandon, Chloe, everything you do is a reflection on this family, You have to be ideal”. And Chloe replied, “no one can live up to the ideal, not even dad.”
The show’s main focus will be the age gap between two generations of Superheroes. The old generations have protected the world from countless threats for almost a century. And now 90 years later, the new generation has to live up to that legacy and burden. The new generation will not only deal with their parent’s expectations, but the whole world is expecting from them. Uncle Ben’s dialogue “With great power comes great responsibility” sums up their situation. But when the young heroes have lived in the shadow of their parents their whole life, do you think it will be that easy? What if someone turns out to be rebellious? Will the old generation be able to stop them? And what will happen if the young generation denies saving the world? So many questions and all will be answered when the show will come out.
The show is all set to release on May 7, 2021, and that is Friday. So it is perfect for a weekend binge-watch. The show will consist of 8 episodes with each episode being 40-50 minutes long. Every episode will come out on Netflix on the same day. And there will be no regional boundaries so you will be able to enjoy the show from any place you want.
The show will involve Josh Duhamel, Leslie Bibb, Ben Daniels, Andrew Horton, Elena Kampouris, Mike Wade, Matt Lanter, and Ian Quinlan in the main lead roles. Other cast includes Meg Steedle as Jane, Anna Akana as Raikou, Tyrone Benskin as Willie Smalls, Jess Salgueiro as Jacinda, Gracie Dzienny as Ruby Red, Humberly González as Grabriela Zavala, Morgan David Jones as Jack Frost, Tyler Mane as Blackstar and Ian Quinlan as Hutch.
The show is directed by Charlotte Brändström, Christopher J. Byrne, Marc Jobst, and Steven S. DeKnight. Julia Cooperman, Steven S. DeKnight, and Henry G.M. Jones are penning down the script. Brian Gunn and Mark Gunn are in charge of the screenplay. Steven S. DeKnight has previously worked on Netflix’s original “Daredevil”, so it is safe to say he has a pretty good experience when it comes to superhero shows. Sang Kyu Kim, James Middleton, and Hameed Shaukat are producing the show. Stephanie Economou is handling the music and I am pretty pumped about that.
What To Expect?
Overall, you can expect some pretty good action scenes. If the creators are able to maintain a decent pace in the show it can be a masterpiece. Just think about it. Everything is there, A good production house, a big budget, amazing VFX, people who know how to make Superhero shows. What can possibly go wrong now? I am pretty pumped about the show and the way Netflix is promoting it, they expect big things too. So, we will have to wait and find out how the show will actually turn out to be, but it looks amazing at the moment.
