Witcher Season 2 Release Date, Plot, Cast, and Other Details: Finally, the shooting of Witcher Season 2 has been completed. And it is going to be released sooner than you expected it to be. The shooting of The Witcher Season 2 took place amidst a coronavirus pandemic and was completed in 158 long days. Netflix exclusively released behind the scene footage marking or celebrating the finish of shooting. It is a joyous occasion as we will finally get the sequel of our beloved show. Before that Jacqueline Rathore, the show’s makeup artist also shared a story on her Instagram account that marked the completion of the shooting.

The Witcher season 1 was released in 2019 and it immediately broke the internet. The series is based on a famous game and novel series of the same name. And fans throughout the world loved the live-action version of their beloved characters. The series gained whopping 8.2/10 stars on IMDB, which is a feat in itself. I absolutely loved the show and binged it on the day it was released. Now, that it is getting its second season I am really excited and hyped up for it. The shooting of Witcher Season 2 started way back in February 2020 but was paused due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The shooting resumed in August but had to stop again in just a week because of rising COVD-19 cases.

Toughest shooting season yet

The behind the scene footage released by Netflix is kind of an eye-opener about how much they struggled to complete the shooting. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich told us that the shooting was completed in 158 days. And every team that was deployed had to use face masks, shields and lots and lots of sanitizers. The shooting took place in 15 different locations with 89 cast members and 1200 crew members. The number seemed normal for a normal situation, but when you are dealing with a Pandemic it becomes quite impressive. I just want to congratulate the team of Witcher for completing the shooting.

The tough shooting environment might have also given the crew the idea of what they have to face in these times. It will be a useful experience while shooting the prequel of ‘The Witcher’ that was announced a few months earlier.

The Witcher Season 2 Plot

According to Netflix’s official synopsis “Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.”

The Witcher Season 2 will start right from where the first season ended. We will see Geralt training Ciri in his hometown Kaer Morhen. He will train Ciri and save her from her own mysterious powers so that she can battle down her own demons. The first season followed the book “Blood Of Elves” and took some stories from ‘The Last Wish’ and ‘Sword of Destiny’. The story will move forward from ”Blood Of Elves” and the second book of the series “Time of Contempt”, will come into play.

The games have their own storylines after the books so the series won’t adapt from them. But, there might be few scenes where the snowmakers might reference the games, just to see the fans breaking the internet.

The Witcher Season 2 Cast

All the major cast members from season one will return for the second season once again. Anna Shaffer as Triss, Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer. Other cast members are Yasen Atour as Coen, Basil Eidenbenz as Eskel, and everyone’s favorite Joey Batey as Jaskier. The list of cast members is really long, you can read the whole list at Netflix’s official website or IMDB.

The new faces are Cassie Clare as Phillippa Eilhart, Liz Carr as Fenn, Graham McTavish as Dijkstra, Kevin Doyle as Ba’lian, Simon Callow as Codringher, and Chris Fulton as Rience. Rice is one of the major villains in the Witcher series and in my opinion, Chris Fulton is best for the role.

Edward Bazalgette, Louise Hooper, Sarah O’Gorman, and Stephen Surjik are directing The Witcher season 2. Andrzej Sapkowski and Lauren Schmidt have written down the scripts while Steve Gaub and Matthew O’Toole are producing the series alongside their team.

The Witcher Season 2: What To Expect?

This season will definitely be more intense than the first one. We will see Geralt once again fighting with the monsters. Yennefer will show her magic to us once again. Maybe this time something will happen between her and Geralt. Jaskier will return to give the show much-needed comic relief. Overall, the show looks promising just like the first season. And if they manage the show at the same pace as the first season, it will a delight to watch.

There are rumors that the season 3 announcement is also right around the corner, so let just hope that it is true. Because you can never get enough of The Witcher, can you?
