The new Netflix film Mother / Android exposes an emotional side to the standard apocalypse cliché. It also strives to provide new perspectives but falls short. But, whether it’s because of Chloe Grace Moretz’s excellent performance or because it appeals to the emotional side of the audience, the film is a hit. It’s also a reminder of science fiction’s prominence in today’s film.

4. Annihilation (2018)
