Dexter Revival Teaser, Preview, Release Date, Cast, and More: After almost a decade, Dexter is finally making a comeback. The latest teaser for Dexter Revival marked the return of serial killer on our screen after so long. Fans were wondering if they will ever get another season of Dexter and many had lost hopes. But, Showtime really treated us with this news. Dexter’s official teaser was only 30 seconds long but was enough to show us a glimpse of our beloved psycho. And he hasn’t changed in any way. If you look at the trailer closely you will see how disturbing it actually was. We will break it down for you really soon.

Dexter Revival is going to release 10 years after the last aired episode. So, what does it mean for the timeline in Dexter? Well, the makers cleared it and told us about that. “We’re not going to betray the audience and say, ‘Whoops, that was all a dream. What happened in the first eight years happened in the first eight years. 10 years, or however many years, have passed by the time this will air, and the show will reflect that time passage. In so far as the ending of the show, this will have no resemblance to how the original finale was. It’s a great opportunity to write a second finale for our show, and Showtime was very gracious about that.” They cleared that in an interview.
Dexter Revival Teaser Breakdown
Now, as I mentioned earlier the 30-second teaser was really disturbing. And I will tell you why. The teaser started with a shot in the woods. Yes, it is a direct reference to the season 8 finale. The shot zooms out with showing the back of our hero. He then turns around and smiles at the camera all while The Animal original “Please Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” playing in the background. Now, It doesn’t feel that disturbing, that is because I haven’t told you the disturbing part yet. The disturbing part was the muffled sound in the background of someone gagged and the reflection in the mirror that showed us a new victim of Dexter. The victim was tied up with some kind of tape from top to bottom. And if that isn’t disturbing, I don’t know what is.
Dexter Revival Plot
The ninth season will continue right from where season 8 ended. Meaning it will feature Dexter hiding in the woods. But it is not like the time hasn’t passed in the Dexter timeline. A decade has been passed since Dexter went into hiding, so we might also see some of the flashbacks of what happened with Dexter in those 10 years. It will serve as a second finale to right the original ending that was bad.
I am happy that we are getting another season of Dexter because I was not satisfied with how the last season ended. We saw Dexter going up north, broods for a bit, get back to his old ways – eventually is drawn back to the family. The ending wasn’t that bad, but it didn’t felt like an ending. There was nothing “finalizing” about the finale. He didn’t die, he didn’t get arrested. He went into hiding and that was it. It felt like a deliberate setup to continue the story, later on, maybe a movie was in plans. But, now we are getting it and I can’t be more excited about it.
Release Date
The show will come out in 2021 only. The exact date is yet to be revealed. Maybe they will announce it with the official trailer release. We will update you as soon as something is announced. The ninth season will consist of 10 episodes, making it shorter than all the other seasons. It will probably have weekly releases like all the other seasons.
