Denis Villeneuve Revealed ‘Dune’ Runtime, Denis Villeneuve, Well, it is not 6 hours long as Jason Momoa wanted it to be. But Dune still is pretty long and I am all in for that. Director Denis Villeneuve cleared that the movie will not be 6 hours long when he was asked about it. When Villeneuve was asked about Jason Momoa’s comments, he laughed and then answered saying that the movie will be 155 minutes long. That makes the movie 2 hours and 35 minutes long. And considering that we are already planning for a second part, I think it is the perfect length for the movie.
Denis Villeneuve also stated that might have shot a lot of movies, but he doesn’t have a director cut of Dune. And the final movie we will get on the screen is the only cut. Dune will only cover the first part of Frank Herbert’s best-selling novel. And even though Warner Brothers haven’t officially confirmed the sequel, there are rumors everywhere. And we will get the announcement real soon.
Dune Plot
As I have mentioned earlier, Dune is a Feature adaptation of Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel. The movie will cover the first half of Frank Herbert’s original novel. And there is a reason for it. Director Denis Villeneuve stated in the interview that “I would not agree to make this adaptation of the book with one single movie.”
And I like this idea of adapting a novel in two parts. As it gives the story much-needed time. And as Villeneuve himself said “the world is too complex. It’s a world that takes its power in details.” And Eric Roth, the movie’s co-writer, has already said that they have written the whole movie on paper already. So, it will be interesting to see how the movie will turn out.
Dune Release Date
The movie is all set to release on October 22, 2021. The movie will release in theaters and in HBO Max. We hope that every theater in the world will be open by then. So, everyone can enjoy this movie without any doubt.
Fans without an HBO Max subscription won’t be able to watch the movie alongside the release. They will have to wait for some time for the movie to release on another OTT platform.
