Black Summer Season 2 Netflix Review, There is a lack of really good zombie shows considering how frequently we get them. And I really thought that Black Summer could work in that genre. But it doesn’t. After a very dull first season, I had some hopes with the second season considering they delayed the second season by four months. The delay was due to a pandemic and they had to resolve some issues. But that seemed to cause more issues than resolved. This has already been a hard year for everyone and Netflix Balck Summer doesn’t make it easy for anyone in any way.

As I said earlier, there lack good Zombie shows. They are usually inconsistent and makers change the rules whenever they want according to their comfort. There are also cases of recycling old things. As we have seen so many zombie series and movies over the years that there are hardly any new things left. That is why “Train To Busan” was loved by everyone. As it offered something that we don’t usually see in zombie apocalypses movies. But, Netflix Black Summer offers nothing like that. Season 1 had some glimpses that we could get something really good in the future. But Black Summer season 2 kills that completely.
Netflix Black Summer 2 Plot
The official synopsis of the series reads, “Six weeks after the start of the zombie apocalypse. Rose is separated from her daughter, Anna, and she embarks on a harrowing journey to find her. Thrust alongside a small group of refugees in North America. She must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions during the most deadly summer of a zombie apocalypse”.
Netflix Black Summer Season 2 starts six weeks after the events of a zombie apocalypse. They had a nice start and the foundation was strong. They could have made it work. But right from the start of the second season, Black Summer feels kind of abrupt. It was like we were suddenly dropped in the middle of nowhere without any explanations. And that is a bad start no matter what you say. And that is the case with the whole season. Netflix Black Summer 2 feels abrupt and disoriented. It feels like Black Summer is just banking on fast zombies and cheap kills. The editing tried to make it edgy with the scene cuts. But they somehow managed to jump the storyline by doing this. The editing became distracting and anti-climatic. Especially when you know someone is dead or alive before you get to the ending.
Characters
I think the worst thing about the show was their characters. There are just so many dumb characters in the show at the moment. None of them made any sense and there were so many illogical decisions by them. None of the groups make sense either, especially when we get to the house. The show could have been a little better if we had some good and badass characters. But, there was not a single character that was even slightly likeable.
The only likable character in Netflix Black Summer Season 2 was ‘Sun’. Because she’s the only one that where her emotions fit the situation. And I don’t think that is because of the writers. The girl couldn’t speak English, so the only thing she had were her expressions. And Christine Lee did an amazing job there.
Is It Worth It?
Honestly, NO! Even if you are a zombie apocalypse fan, this show is not for you. It’s too fast-paced and way too many things fall through the cracks, like believability, relatability, and character development. It makes it really hard to connect with the characters and keep them interested. There was not a single meaningful dialogue in the show. And the makers were killing anyone they wanted according to their comfort. Sometimes, it didn’t even make sense. The only thing Netflix Black Summer 2 provides is the gore. But you can watch so many other shows for that.
