Well, Ted Lasso was a ride. It might be one of the best things I have seen in the pandemic era. It was the positive boost that people needed in their life. The series follows the American coach on his journey across the pond. Where he is the newest coach of the English Premier League team, AFC Richmond. And the thing is that AFC Richmond is Premier League Football Team, whereas Ted is an American football coach. (It is football, not soccer). Ted knows nothing about Football and is clueless. And it creates such a brilliant dynamic that I never thought was possible.
And, we think that people really need more light-hearted and feel-good comedy shows in their lives at this moment. And that is why we have decided to make a list of 7 shows / TV-Series like Ted Lasso. All of these shows are funny, heartwarming, and really good.
The Good Place
The concept of ‘The Good Place’ is really good. And I think for that only it deserves a shoutout. But it isn’t just the concept. It is one of those shows that are Smart, witty, and funny for real. The first few episodes are a bit dull, but once it kicks off, it is a beautiful show. It will make you emotionally attached to the show and will make you care. The one thing that other comedy shows fail to do. If you can get through the first few episodes, you will be at the end of the show without even realizing it.
A Must Watch!!!!
Now, this is the best Comedy show on Netflix. Brooklyn Nine-Nine, hands down might be the best sitcom ever after Fleabag and The Office. It is a fun ride throughout. It takes few episodes to establish itself, but after that, it is the best thing you will ever see. The cast they assembled is just perfect. It is like that every actor was made for the character they were given. The eighth season of the show is coming out soon, so it is the perfect time to binge it.
I am just 4 seasons into Modern Family, but this is one of the best things I have ever watched. All these weird characters in one place should not work, but it does and it brings out one of the best shows I have ever watched. Modern Family is An American mockumentary-style sitcom like The Office and Parks and Recreation. But this time instead of an office, the documentary crew goes into the personal lives of these families. And this show is sweet, funny, really funny, and wholesome on a different level entirely.
Parks and Recreation
Now that we are talking about Mockumentary style sitcoms, let’s get these out of the way. And yes, The Office will be next. Parks and Recreation follow the ups and downs of the Parks and Recreation department in the small government office of Pawnee, Indiana. The main characters are so likable. The stories/plot lines can be kind of a weak point but the writing/humor is phenomenal. It is a very well-made show based on humor. And the best part is that the show never itself too seriously. It is just a feel-good comedy.
Well, I told you already. There is a reason why there are so many remakes of this show. And every single remake provides something new. The original British one is humouristic and smart. The French version is really crude in a good way. And we don’t talk about the Indian version here. But none of them are as famous as the American version. The American version of The Office plays on humor as well and is a very smart show. But it is absurd and dumb at the same time and that is exactly what makes it so good.
Even after being one of the best comedy shows ever, Community really goes under the radar. Maybe the reason is that the show takes itself so seriously and tries so hard. On one hand, in its six seasons, Community rarely gets stale. But when it does, it is really a task to get through. But in the end, if you sit through those stale episodes, it is all worth it. Every show has some weak and strong arcs and Community is the same. What sets it aside from all the other shows is the direction. Russo Brothers have directed a significant amount of episodes of Community. So, the direction gives you a completely different vibe from all the other sitcoms.
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
I know it might not be your taste, but comedy is subjective. I like The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Maybe because of the positive tone and cast. But that really doesn’t matter. Because it is such a feel-good show and it really warms your heart. I thoroughly enjoy super upbeat and fast-paced humor and this show is filled with those.
