However, the Don rejects the offer because he has a moral objection to heroin use, much to the dismay of the Don’s attorney Tom Hagen. Sollozzo orders several of his hit men to shoot the Don down because this displeases him. The Corleone family is torn apart as a result of the Don narrowly making it out alive, which motivates his son Michael to start a bloody mob war against Sollozzo.

A prostitute and sailor fall in love, but the woman struggles to adjust to their marriage when she returns to her previous lifestyle. It presents the continuation of Fanny Brice’s story after the events in Funny Girl (1968). As the star of the Ziegfeld Follies and a well-known Broadway performer, Fanny finds herself in tough straits as the 1930s begin. Even Florenz Ziegfeld Jr. is having difficulties finding money to continue producing the Follies as her marriage to Nicky Arnstein, whom she still loves, is breaking up. Billy Rose, a brazen nightclub owner, lyricist, and would-be impresario, shows up and claims he can raise the funds and has the content to produce his own revue in which Fanny will be the star.

Billy’s chutzpah, his tenacity, and the knowledge that beneath his outward appearance lies the soul of a true hustler, much as she was when she first started out and much like she is still now, make Fanny feel both drawn to and repulsed by him. They gradually fall in love with each other as a result of their struggles in their respective professions. Fanny acknowledges that Nicky is still constantly on her mind, though.

The real-life account of Operation Market Garden, an attempt by the Allies to enter Germany through Belgium and Holland and end World War II more quickly in September 1944. They would eventually and in turn be reinforced by the British XXX Corps, which was located in and driving up from the British lines in the south.
