Balthazar teaches magic to Dave Stutler, a clumsy nerd who is chosen by a magic dragon ring. But Becky Barnes is the sorcerer’s apprentice’s true love, and he doubts whether he is the rightful heir. For the other part, they visit the “Isle of Naboombu,” a fictional animal island, and deal with the dubious “Bookman” figure.
